Been missing for a while, you can blame my NAS drive which decided to go *pffft* and took all my music along with it, thankfully most everything was on my iPod and what wasn't I just had to re-rip from CD's.
With the excuses out of the way, down to the business at hand....
The Mood Mosaic series of CD's released by Stone Records which, in their own words, they describe as "Lava Lamps… Mirror Balls… Mood Rings… and Funky, Funky Jamz!" is just about spot on. Spanning twelve (yes, that's 12) CD's this series brings you rare grooves of the 70's from a whole range of places from independent films all the way through to your finest Hollywood Porno grooves. The latter of which lends itself to some interesting, ahem, backing vocals on more than a few tracks.
This first post will be Volumes 1-4 of the series. I havn't uploaded any of the album art because it is more than a little "blue" and, well, you never know who's looking over your shoulder as you peruse this blog. Though fear not, for the completists with the final post I'll include a download for all the artwork!
Track listings are from Discogs.com and blurbs are from Dustygroove if you want to fork out some wonga for this legendary set of CD's you can get them from hexacord.
The Mood Mosaic Vol. 1 -- The Hascish Party
A wonderfully groovy set -- every bit as great as you might guess from the title and the cover -- and the very first installment in the now-legendary Mood Mosaic series! The set's one of the few to bring together tunes from the groovier side of the spectrum at the end of the 60s -- work from British, French, American, and German sources -- all awash in a great blend of funky, easy, and pop-oriented modes! There's a nicely trippy feel throughout -- and titles include "Hascisch Party" by George Garvarenz, "Kiss This" by Claude Denjean, "Acka Raga" by Shocking Blue, "Mas Que Nada" by Luiz Enriquez, "En Melody" by Serge Gainsbourg, "Love For Sale" by Marian McPartland, "Batucada" by Phil Crewe, "Marins Armins Amant Ou Maris" by Michel Legrand, and "Sitar Beat" by Klaus Doldinger.

Also features Jimmy Smith's hard to find "Root Down", plus "Super Strut" by Port Authority, "Desert is a Circle" by Jodorowsky, and "Mission Impossible" by the 45 Sound Orchestra. Great stuff!
