Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators - Keep Reachin' Up

Call it what you will, nu-funk, nu-soul, or whatever...(I hate sticking tunes in little pidgeon holes) this is pure Memphis sound....horribly underrated and under promoted, this is one of THE best albums I've heard in recent years. Play it and I guarantee you'll play it again...and again...and again :-)

1. Feeling Free
2. If This Ain't Love (Don't Know What Is)
3. Keep Reachin' Up
4. Blues Downtown
5. My Four Leaf Clover
6. A Perfect Kind Of Love
7. Invisible Man
8. Holdin' On
9. No One's Gonna Love You
10. Soul Investigators Theme

Former singer of Repercussions... Totally agree, absolutely wonderful album with real strings, horns and live instruments. It doesn't get better than this...

Hmm....Repercussions??? I never heard of them but I know she was also a member of The Brand New Heavies before her Soul Investigator days. This is another that I bout from dustygroove a while back. My favorites are If This Ain't Love (of course), My 4 Leaf Clover, Feelin' Free (boy, this is a definate nod to some early Curtis Mayfield) & No ones Gonna Love You. Plenty soulful and plenty funky, I have been trying to get people to support this stuff since I first heard it. Do yourself a favor and check it if you like classic late 60's sounding soul and funk in the slightest! SUPPORT HER PLZ!
Another note: There is also a remixed version of this album out there but unfortunately, I was too hooked on the original to even think about liking it.
