The Bamboos - Step it up (2006)

Heavyweight funk act The Bamboos hail from Australia and their first 7" single quickly made waves around the world and earned them a single deal with Kenny Dope and Keb Darge's Kay Dee label. "Tighten Up" b/w "Voodoo Doll" cemented their reputation amongst the global funk community. UK based Tru Thoughts signed the act for an album and Ubiquity picked-up the record for North America. This will be the 4th record to be released under the Tru Thoughts/Ubiquity arrangement following on from Quantic Soul Orchestra, Nostalgia 77, and Quantic album releases. Despite their raw funk flavor, The Bamboos obviously grew-up on hip hop and are into the heavy dance floor beats, in fact vocalist Alice Russell guests on a cover version of the UK broken beat anthem "Transcend Me" (originally by Bugz in the Attic's Afronaught).

Whoa! another good one. These guys remind me a lot of that "Cooking On All 3 Burners" cd that was released last yr. I had this one but it was stolen a few months after I copped it. For anyone that likes The Meters and acid jazz. Great post jinks!
